Rainy seasons (April, May and November) usually come with discounted promotional gorilla permits, giving visitors an advantage to go buy a cheaper permit to visit in the low season times of the year.

Acquiring Gorilla Permits in Rwanda, Uganda and Congo

All tourists planning to take park in a gorilla safari in Africa, require planning for this trip ahead of time. With just about 13 habituated gorilla groups available for trekking in Uganda, Rwanda has only 10 habituated gorilla groups and Congo has 6 habituated gorilla groups. Each gorilla group only accepts strictly 8 tourists to go watch a single gorilla family. Hence the number of gorilla permits is limited yet there are many tourists coming to visit gorillas. The high seasons / dry seasons have much more completion than the low seasons / rainy seasons. In high seasons you need to book.

What To Wear

Highly recommended are long sleeved cottoshirts, pants and good sturdy hiking shoes. Towards the end of the dry season and in the rainy season a water proof jacket and pant must not be left behind because during these times its hard to predict whether it will rain or not.
